I decided to get this e-reader rather than the kindle, as it was a fair bit cheaper and has more features too. The only downsides are the lack of E-ink, and the shorter battery life. However, it comes with normal charger as well as USB charger. It is very user friendly and easy to understand. I was able to download video clips, free e-books from the Gutenburg project, a word document, photos and music within a very short space of time. The book reader side of it is excellent, although I don't think it will work in bright sunlight. Great for reading in bed though. It is a nice weight and easy to hold while reading. It feels good and sturdy. The video quality is excellent, and a great size for watching a film saved on a SD card. The sound is pretty good, and great through headphones (I used my own more comfortable headphones rather than the ones supplied). I am going to load it with free books and episodes of a tv show I keep missing ready for a stay in hospital. I have not seen a Kindle, but I think if someone I knew had this e-reader, I would probably be jealous of all the extra features for half the cost.
This is fantastic, I bought this yesterday and got it all set up which was easy to do. If you need it there is also the user guide installed on the device as well as a paper copy. I only have a small memory card at the moment so filled with a few things to test out the quality of the different features. The e-books that it holds are fine and work great as does downloading and installed Adobe Digital Additions (if this is not on the device it is easy enough to download and install through the Adobe website). I downloaded my first two e-books using WHSmiths, they use the epub format and downloaded to Adobe with no hassel once I got the second email and then copy then successfully to the internal memory on the device. Secondly I have added some music videos that I have and the sound and quality of the video is fantastic, some videos were slightly shrunk due to me changing the file format but on choosing to view in 'full screen' it made no difference to the quality of the video. I have also added music to the memory card as well and the sound quality of this is fantastic and also shows the album artwork if you have that added to the song information. The only one that I have not tried out is the photo but going by the album artwork that I have on my songs and also the artwork of the books I am inclined to say that this will also be of top quality. I find I tend to get eye strain looking at screens and have had no issue but it is very easy to alter the brightness and the colours that you would be more comfortable reading with. All in all a highly recommended device that would suit those wanting more than just what the Kindle and Sony offer.
